Other Hybrids

  

Along with the really good flowers, there are many seedlings with flowers that are quite ordinary.  Some of these are shown in the photos below. Although the flowers are not special, some of these hybrids are interesting nonetheless.  For example, IC-95-64 below is a hybrid from the cross (Martha W. x Nike).  One of only two such hybrids which have survived for me.  Since Nike is an advanced generation back-cross lutea hybrid (backcrossed to moutan), it has more moutan and therefore less lutea genes in its genetic makeup than the more usual lutea hybrids .  Frankly, I had hoped for a better result from this mating.
